Most patients experience mild discomfort when starting braces or aligners or after adjustments. This typically fades within a few days and can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers.

For braces, brush and floss thoroughly around brackets and wires. For aligners, rinse and clean them daily with lukewarm water and a soft toothbrush.
